“The Forgotten” – Frozen Lake Painting Complete!

Ah, you have no idea how happy I am to be showing you this painting full and complete. For the past few days especially there have been literally 50 names for this painting thrown about between friends and family – every one scrutinizing the imagery and coming to some pretty interesting conclusions!

“The Forgotten” – 16 x 21.5 in. – oil on masonite

In the end I chose my own name, finally finding one of simplicity to encompass how I feel about this painting. But, I think there is something to be said about a piece of art which seems impossible to name and yet the choices are endless. I loved hearing my friends and family tell me how they felt about my work – not just whether or not if they liked it – but how it made them feel.

This painting was a flash image in my mind one day while watching a movie. As it developed and I had time to look at her and work through what was sitting right in front of me. It made me feel captivated, lonely, in wait for something, and very vulnerable

I also think this painting deserves a really good poem, so if you’re a writer and feel like writing one for her please do! I would love to read and see your own words and will post them below πŸ˜€

While painting her I listened to a lot of Agnes Obel, the moment the song Fuel to Fire came on it just “felt” like the painting sitting before me. I also spent a lot of time listening to the Hunger Games on audio tape. I had never gotten into the movies all that much but the books certainly have been addictive!

“The Forgotten” is already sold, but prints will be available really soon on my shop so keep your eyes out for that πŸ™‚ I hope you all enjoy my newest work and I look forward to seeing your own comments on it below!

  1. This painting does remind me of a movie. It has a lot of mystery and drama. Also a very lot of intense emotion in the face. Beautiful and riveting piece.

  2. This is so beautiful! Can I use this as a inspiration for my creative fashion project in my Recreation Centre?

    • Ofc! So long as you send me pictures afterwards, cause I want to see! πŸ˜€ hehe Thank you Disa!
