Spring is late – and work piles up!

As I sit here with snow continuing to fall outside, I am anxious for spring…the flowers, the dresses!, and leaving the door open as I paint…

But it seems to be far far off at this point. As Easter rolls in instead, I am here happy that my Four Horsemen have been completed. It was an accumulation of 5 months of work, trying out a new technique: grisaille, and painting women who are beautiful…but quite dark in many ways as well. I always say go into a painting with something new to learn, and I definitely expanded my mind a bit with those 4 pieces!

The Four Horsemen

The Four Horsemen – oil on masonite – 7 x 16 in. each

Though all of them are sold now, I am offering some beautiful Limited Edition prints – A3+ size which is about 13 x 19 inches on really nice Canson Photographique paper (lovely and smooth!). I had some printed just last week and they turned out superb, and are offered on my Etsy shop limited to an edition of 25: The Four Horsemen.

Now for the current!
I have been honored to be involved with the upcoming Tentacle show over at Ltd. Art Gallery in Seattle πŸ™‚ I have posted no photos of my project at all actually. All of my current work is in the dreaded “ugly phase”. That phase where you look like you’re creating visions of nightmares instead of works of art πŸ˜›

So I found this photo of the painting on my phone and I will only give you a tidbit of whats to come. Pinks, blues, turquoises…and kelp πŸ˜‰

Also in the ugly pipeline is my massive 4 foot birchwood board commission. It is a forest scene and though I usually paint all the trees first, then the figures later, due to the size of the thing it was rather difficult to determine the depth correctly that way… SO Ihave put on the huldras which I will also give you a sneaky peak to πŸ˜›

blocking colors on the girls – mind the faces πŸ˜› lol

Hopefully you can use your grand imagination and go “Oh right Christina, I see where you’re going with this.” hehe

Once we hit April, I have another large commission to begin of the Greek Goddess Nyx – so keep your eyes peeled for that if you enjoy mythology!!

Here’s to spring finally making its appearance and giving those of us in a Nordic climate a much needed boost of energy and spirit.

Have a great week everyone!
