Busy Busy Bee – What’s to Come!

Hey guys – man, July was quite the month. I had to put a lot of things on the back burner, and I am sorry to anyone who had to wait for me to complete things, or reply to messages properly….

But I am coming out of the woods now – and into a much more complicated working schedule! However, that means a lot of new paintings, a lot of new projects, and a lot of fun!

First off we have the exciting gallery shows. I have 3 lined up for the rest of the year which I will share with you:

Gallery 1988 – Say Hi to the Bad Guy: Wow, was I thrilled to be accepted into this awesome gallery. I got to pick my own cult movie classic bad guy to paint for their October show. And I will tell you, and only you guys reading this blog, who I will be painting….Carrie!!
Woot! Now, I won’t give away which Carrie I am painting yet, as you may know there is a remake of the classic coming out this year too. But I have already gotten the board ready, sketch is done…going to get to work very soon!

Auguste Clown Gallery – Zodiac: For those of you close to me, or happen to follow me on my Facebook Page you’ll know I love astrology 😛 I am a nerd, I know – but you can imagine how thrilled I was when I got invited to participate in Auguste Clown’s November show Zodiac so I could paint my sun sign: Virgo!! Woot!!
Now, since I have done a lot of novice research into the subject, you can expect my painting to be rather complicated. I have a lot of symbolism thrown in there. For those of you who also like astrology OR some pretty frickin awesome artists (Leigh Cornish, the gallery owner, really knows how  to pull together a stellar list) then it’s a must see show ^^

Ltd. Art Gallery – A Picture’s Worth a Thousand Words: Back to Seattle! Also a November show, but I will be working on this one later, in October as the other ones are actually due sooner. This is the 2nd show this year I get to pick a literary character to paint! The first one, Witch Baby, which I painted for Modern Eden was a more personal painting. I wanted this next one to still have fond memories but on a lighter tone!
So, I picked Titania from A Midsummer Night’s Dream! I remember very fondly reading the original Shakespeare play outloud with my 7th grade class. I was sooo happy I got to read Titania’s part, the queen of the fairies. I mean, what 12 year old girl wouldnt be? It brings in a lot of imagery I love…. fantasy, night, flowers, renaissance, love, passion, witchiness….oh the list goes on forever. I am still mulling on how to bring this to light in my own way. But I will definitely keep you posted!

That wraps it up for gallery projects.
However, I also have a multitude of commissions to sort through at the same time.

  • I will be painting scenes from the wonderful book Wicked by Gregory Maguire.
  • A professional violinist will be getting a beautiful dusk painting, with ofc! A violin!
  • I will be painting myself! Literally! A straight forward portrait (intimidating??)

AND!!!

For the love of all that is holy I will force in the time TO DO SOME PERSONAL PROJECTS!!!!!!!!

That’s right. Because I havent had the chance to complete a private painting from start to finish in a time span less than 8 months. I seriously need to do some of my own creative self expression O_o

I have a lot of changes to make in the way I create art. I have a lot of things I need to get out off my chest, I have a lot of battles with paint which need to be fought. I think we all feel that way time to time. Maybe not always a battle of paint but you get my drift 😉

This year has been a roller coaster. I feel like there’s been a lot of lessons asking to be learned.
But I am feeling positive. I have tons of exciting projects to work on, a lot of ideas, and a lot of support.

So thanks to you all! Can’t wait to show you what comes out of it!

  1. Hey girl! I’m so excited to see what you come up with for the shows. And yes, personal work is sooooo important (and I think oftentimes our best work) so I can’t wait to see some of those from you! 🙂

    • Hey Sasha! Where have you been missy?
Yeah, I really hope I am able to create some nice personal things. I even have a model coming over tomorrow to shoot an idea I thought of last year 😛 Gah, I am so behind.
Anyway! Wish me luck! And I hope you have been doing really well <3 Be sure to PM me sometime!
